9/11/2001
A day we will never forget. While I wrote about 9/11 last year, the 10th Anniversary seems to stir up so many emotions and a different feeling in me about the events that occurred today, and, maybe more importantly, the people who were a part of that day. As I've watched all the documentaries of the events and people of 9/11, what has struck me the mos is how so many of these people risked their own lives to help others survive that day. Whether it be someone helping an elderly co-worker down the stairs, instead of rushing out themselves, or those amazing individuals who went up when others were coming down, people who pried open elevator doors to save a life, or the brave people who took down the plane over that field in Pennsylvania- they left their mark, their legacy. It truly makes me wonder, what kind of legacy would I have left, had it been me. What kind of legacy will I leave, since I've been given this life to live, instead of having had it cut short. On my run this morning, I heard this song, which truly struck a chord. Maybe this year on 9/11 we can be challenged to live a life that makes a difference for others, where, for me, my faith in God is something everyone sees in my actions toward others. It should be a day that reminds us that we have life, so make the most of it!

I don't mind if you've got something nice to say about me
And I enjoy an accolade like the rest
You could take my picture and hang it in a gallery
Of all who's who and so-n-so's that used to be the best
At such'n'such ... it wouldn't matter much
And I enjoy an accolade like the rest
You could take my picture and hang it in a gallery
Of all who's who and so-n-so's that used to be the best
At such'n'such ... it wouldn't matter much
I won't lie, it feels alright to see your name in lights
We all need an 'Atta boy' or 'Atta girl'
But in the end I'd like to hang my hat on more besides
The temporary trappings of this world
We all need an 'Atta boy' or 'Atta girl'
But in the end I'd like to hang my hat on more besides
The temporary trappings of this world
I want to leave a legacy
How will they remember me?
Did I choose to love? Did I point to You enough
To make a mark on things?
How will they remember me?
Did I choose to love? Did I point to You enough
To make a mark on things?
I want to leave an offering
A child of mercy and grace who
blessed your name unapologetically
And leave that kind of legacy
A child of mercy and grace who
blessed your name unapologetically
And leave that kind of legacy
I don't have to look too far or too long awhile
To make a lengthy list of all that I enjoy
It's an accumulating trinket and a treasure pile
Where moth and rust, thieves and such will soon enough destroy
To make a lengthy list of all that I enjoy
It's an accumulating trinket and a treasure pile
Where moth and rust, thieves and such will soon enough destroy
Not well traveled, not well read, not well-to-do or well bred
Just want to hear instead, "Well Done" good and faithful one...
Just want to hear instead, "Well Done" good and faithful one...
